Flexibility Techniques - Day 4

For today’s post, let’s focus on stretching the chest and shoulders with a basic static stretch performed n a doorway.

Stretching Your Chest/Shoulders

How to:

  1. The chest and shoulder stretch as pictured above can be performed in a doorway. Turn your palms out and reach for the door frame. Make sure your arms are gently bent, but extended and open the chest, while you lean your body forward. Force your shoulders down in this position and feel the chest open up, while releasing the shoulders. Breathe!

  2. A variation of this chest/shoulder stretch starts in a standing position. Clasp hands behind your back, interlocking your fingers and lift the heart to the ceiling. Open your chest and pull your shoulder blades down, towards your back pockets. For more intensity, gently bend over at the hip and extend your clasped hands with your arms over towards your head (with your head upside down)
