Research conducted by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association, better known as IHRSA, found that small boutique-style studios now account for 42% of the American health club market. The average gym membership costs about $70 per month while a personal training session at a boutique studio can be somewhere between $50 - $70 per session. Fitness fans pay up because they like the one-on-one private experience. The gym is considered to be a germ-infested, loud and crowded place providing an intimidating environment for those who are not weightlifting savvy. More and more, these boutique fitness studios are hot, new exclusive workout facilities which offer an intimate setting with proper instruction.

Of course, technology has created an easy promotional market for these specialized studios from creative social media posts to booking training sessions online.  With the boost of social media and the exclusivity of one-on-one instruction, boutique-style fitness studios are reaching new people and building connections with existing clients. Today, more and more consumers are not just interested in an over-sized gym, but an experience, a “boutique experience”.
